The space below matters

Your deck has a second floor. Why waste the space under it?

Rain naturally passes through the gaps between deck boards. RainGuard captures and redirects that water above the joists before it reaches the lower area, creating a better starting point for a dry patio, storage zone, or finished outdoor room.

Under-deck drainage questions

What to know before the deck boards go down.

What is an under-deck drainage system?

An under-deck drainage system captures water that passes through deck-board gaps and redirects it to a gutter and downspout. The goal is to manage water before it reaches the usable area beneath an elevated deck.

How does RainGuard work?

RainGuard uses sloped drainage troughs above the deck joists to capture water, channel it toward collection points, and move it through a gutter and downspout away from the lower area.

Is RainGuard installed above or below the deck joists?

RainGuard is planned as an above-the-joist water-management system. That placement is why installation is best coordinated with a new deck or a major rebuild when the decking surface is already being installed or replaced.

Can RainGuard be installed with Trex decking?

Yes. RainGuard can be planned with Trex and other composite decking systems. Decking, fasteners, framing, drainage slope, rail posts, and perimeter details must be coordinated before installation.

Can RainGuard be installed during deck replacement?

Yes. A deck replacement or major resurfacing project can be a practical time to evaluate RainGuard because the walking surface is already being removed and the framing can be reviewed before new decking is installed.

Can RainGuard be installed on an existing deck?

Possibly, but an above-joist system requires access from above. Battlefield Services must evaluate the existing decking, framing, ledger, posts, drainage path, and whether removing and reinstalling or replacing the deck boards makes sense.

How much does an under-deck drainage system cost?

Installed cost depends on deck size, height, framing layout, access, drainage path, demolition, selected decking, and whether a ceiling, lighting preparation, or other lower-space finishes are included. Battlefield Services provides project-specific pricing after reviewing the scope.

How does RainGuard compare with Trex RainEscape?

Both are intended to manage water above the joists and help create dry space below. RainGuard is Battlefield Services' locally installed alternative, available as part of a complete deck package. Warranty terms and installed pricing should be compared in the written proposals.

What warranty does RainGuard include?

RainGuard warranty options range from 35 to 50 years. The exact coverage term and complete conditions for a project will be stated in the written Battlefield Services proposal and warranty document. Homeowners should review covered components, labor, exclusions, maintenance requirements, and claim procedures before signing.

Can I install a ceiling underneath the deck?

A finished under-deck ceiling may be possible when it is designed around the drainage system, ventilation, access, electrical work, and the structure. Those details should be planned before the lower area is enclosed.

Can I install lights and ceiling fans underneath the deck?

Lighting and fan preparation can be considered where the structure, drainage system, electrical design, clearances, and applicable codes allow. Electrical work must be coordinated with the finished ceiling and water-management layout.

Does RainGuard protect deck framing?

RainGuard is designed to manage water above the joists, which can help reduce repeated moisture exposure to the deck framing. It does not replace correct flashing, sound framing, proper connections, maintenance, or site drainage.

Where does the water drain?

The sloped troughs direct water to a collection gutter and downspout. The final discharge location is planned around the property so water is moved away from the structure and lower living area.

Can Battlefield Services build the entire deck?

Yes. Battlefield Services can coordinate the deck design, framing, RainGuard installation, composite decking, railings, stairs, drainage, lighting preparation, and under-deck finish planning as one construction scope.
